Week 12 - ITF (W15) Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt Hard

Matilda 1-6, looks pretty comprehensive. She's not been past 30 in any of her 4 service games, although she did have a BP in a different game to the one break she did get.

Hopefully the second set is a bit closer.

Edit - and it is already. Held for the first time, and has just broken, so leads in the early stages, *2-1.

6-4, so into a decider. A string of holds towards the end of the set from both.

Matilda broke early to lead 2-0, but was broken back. She has just broken again to lead *3-2, but there is a MTO

Good stuff. No idea who had the MTO, and you can't really tell from the games that followed as it was 4-4 at one stage, but that looks a very good win. Bookies had it evens, and it turned out fairly in line with that, i.e 6-4 in the third, but I was kind of expecting Bhunu to win after her recent results. Well done.

Lily and Lissey lead 6-4 *4-4 in their doubles, but with 8 consecutive breaks of serve in the second set this one could go either way.

4 holds have taken it to 6-3 6-6 and 3-3* in the TB.

Re Lissey and Lily's match, a reminder that tennis is often so much about games, sets and ultimately the match by more winnng rhe right points than the actual split of points, emphasised even more so wirh deuce deciding points in doubles.

They won 6-3 (26 points to 28) 7-6(4) (44 points to 31). Overall 70 points to 59.

that is really interesting - from a points persective they won a set they lost on points, and won it "comfortably" in terms of games; and they also won a set by a whisker on a tb that they lost handsomely!

Quite a stark and informative insight - thanks for that Indy

The fourth seeds also made it through, but you can't tell which set they won from the points. 31-32 35-37 and MTB 11-9

Correct ! but it also illustrates Indi's point (although nowhere near as well)

Matilda leads *3-1 (2 breaks to 1). 27 minutes and 30 points - could be another very long match.
