Week 2 in the Dominican Republic with Jack Pinnington Jones again as top seed, but no Leo Borg. Joel Pierleoni doesn't have to qualify this time, and has a good draw against a local wild card whereas Oliver Tarvet has to tackle the second seed, winner of a Grade 1 this year without dropping a set
Boys R1 (L32)
(1) Jack Pinnington Jones v (Q) Karol Tomanski (POL)
Millie is top seeded with Swede Klara Milicevic in the girls doubles.
Boys R1 (L32)
(1) Jack Pinnington Jones v (Q) Karol Tomanski (POL)
Joel Pierleoni d. (WC) Emmanuel Munoz (DOM) 6-1 6-3
(Q) Niccolo Clavarella (ITA) d. (6) William Nolan 6-1 5-7 7-6(6)
Marcel Kamrowski (POL) v (4) Lui Maxted
(8) Derrick Chen d. Geni Inoue (JPN) 7-5 6-2
Oliver Tarvet v (2) Mark Lajal (EST)
What a close thing for Oli Tarvet against the second seed, winning the first 7-5 and then losing the second 6-7(4). (The third was then clearcut, 1-6)
He's had a very good month or so, what with the title at J5 level and now some wins, and very close matches, at J2 level.
In the dubs, Derrick and Jack play Joel+ in one QF, so guaranteed presence in the SFs.
Will Nolan and Lui are in another QF
As you say, Jon, pretty disappointing for Millie. She's in the QFS of the doubles too, but to lose in the singles in R1 two weeks on the trot, and being second seed here (!!!) is a long way off what they must have been hoping for.
Lui's next opponent lost easily to Oliver last week.

Jack and Derrick and Lui and William, plus Millie in the girls are all now into doubles semis , in line with seedings.
in boys singles, jack , lui and Derrick all won in straight sets and progress to the last 8, again in line with seedings. Joel lost but put up a good fight against his seeded opponent before losing in 3.
Derrick next plays the Estonian second seed who just edged out Oliver
