Eliz Maloney def Beth Grey 3-6 7-6(9) 10-6

Eliz saved four match points in recovering from 1-5* to 6-5, and was 1-5 and 5-6 down in the tie-break. (And two more MP's int the second set tie-break)
That girl is a wall, she was getting everything back. Two hours 20 minutes for the first two sets.

Beth having treatment after the match (looks like it might be breathing difficulties)

Im going to wager if Emily wins the final, shell have enough points on 36 to have qualified for the Classic week. Im betting 35/6 is the cut off.

Eliz is playing well above her ranking, and it is a shame that she didn't get the results in her trim to Sharm. One of those players who would really benefit from 15k's in this country,

Oh dear, there aren't any !

Emily beat Eliz very comfortably on Friday and given her overall performances against this field in these two events, its impossible to imagine she will lose in the final ?!

I'm not sure...... I like Eliz's game (her movement and relaxation of arm are nice to watch) but I don't know how much store to set by beating Beth as Beth also lost to Dani Daley (who was playing well, it's true, but all the same)

And Eliz was very lucky really to beat Freya (as in Freya's head had gone AWOL).

And she only beat Olivia in a MTB

I didn't see today's matches but I don't think she looked particularly impressive prior in the week.

BUT not disagreeing with you at all about the lack of 15ks !!!

Emily App will be interesting - Josh Paris won here two weeks ago and promptly lost in the first round of qualis in Sharm (although he's got another chance this week and fingers crossed).

She should be knocking on the door of the top 500 really....

I watched the match from midway through the second set (only expecting it to last a few minutes, so I missed all of Heather's doubles final). Beth was playing well, but couldn't find an answer to the wall in front of her.
Probably neeed a plan B, specifically shorten the rallies, get to the net, serve and volley - anything but stop trying to win from the back of the court, because almost everything was coming back. Eliz doesn'thave a great attacking game, but she certainly hits a good ball.

Emily should win the final easily in straight sets - she is the most aggresive of this group of players, is on form, and full of confidence. I'm expecting something like a 2&3 win. As I've commented before, she has greatly improved on the player of two years ago.

Dani was leading and playing well, from the little bits I saw.

But abandoned at *3-2 up.

Didn't see what happened just before. But she left the court walking fine so I don't think it was a sudden, nasty injury

 Could be arm/shoulder

Yes, absolutely. Or abdo. Or a flare-up of a leg/hip injury that she knows she shouldn't continue with, even if not acute.

But what I meant was that she didn't look in distress, or had a physio on, and was carrying all her own bags, etc, so it didn't look to me like it was a sudden, nasty injury of any kind.

But I may be wrong....

biggrin

Three breaks to one in the first set, just the one break in the second, so a bit closer than I expected.

Last match just started, so will summarise the tables after that.
