They seem to have clocked on to Tanysha's form finally, as Beth is 1/25 and Tanysha is 8/1, whereas if you look at the pre match odds on the below link from their previous meeting last July (which Beth narrowly won 10-7 on a MTB in the Saturday playoff), Tanysha ranged between 3.05 to 3.50, so somewhere between 2/1 and 5/2 - big difference 8 months later:
Yes, they've got Tanysha's form now but don't seem to be crediting much to Dani.
You could get 2.75 on Dani yesterday v Tanysha. Which turned out to be a nice little earner as it was clearly wrong as a match-up. But was it more Tanysha or Dani that was wrong?
Coz they've still got Dani at 2.5 v Nadia at 1.5 today.
Nadia is a decent enough player but I would have put it closer than that.
Annali and Kim are, unfortunately, just playing for the low places between each other - they've won 3 and 4 games in total, in two matches, so far.
The other pool is more interesting.
The Kylie v Alice match is absolutely evens on Bet365 and that seems right - really hard to call. I would go for Kylie (just)
Will be interested to see how Freya v Eliz pans out too.
Odds say Freya is overwhelming favourite and, of course, she should win.
But Eliz is one of those players you have to beat, she doesn't beat herself. And Freya is poorly coached (IMHO) and doesn't seem to have found the correct default of aggression in her play.
Yes, you predicted that right. Eliz gets another break and takes the first set 6-4. Looking very steady and solid.
Freya needs to (a) hit the ball with more transfer of weight going forwards, she backs off, and uses her strength to try and 'Nadal' it. But it's not the answer.
And - far easier - (b) she needs to come in and take the ball out of the air when the other player is on the run and just drive volley it simply into the open court.
She has lost match after match that I've seen because she never does this. And it's infuriating because she is very capable at it. And instead she's rooted at the back, waiting, waiting, for the ball to come back, and finally makes an error.
Missed the MTB because of phone call. Well deserved win for Eliz.
Yes, I agree. I saw the MTB and Eliz was a little more pro-active and, overall, she deserved the match, mainly because she got to play it on her terms, and all credit to her for doing so - she has a very relaxed arm, and moves well.
Thought a couple of her line calls were a bit iffy though.
Thursday Fixtures
Court 1
11:15 Beth Grey v Alice Gillian
12:30 Freya Christie v Emily Appleton
15:30 Eliz Maloney v Olivia Nicholls
Court 2
10.00 Annali Olivelle v Kimberly Mpukusa
12:30 Tanysha Dissanayake v Nadia Rawson
15:30 Kylie Bilchev v Danielle Daley
After today' results, I actually think Emily v Eliz is the more omportant match. Although I think Emily will win both matches anyway.
And in Pool B, it's effectively Beth v Alice to decide the pool.
