I guess when you factor everything in like injuries, college, ITFs, juniors, and other bits and bobs, as Spireman mentioned on the previous page, then it might be quite hard to rustle up an interesting field of 12 players at a given time, but while it's good for their fans as they get to watch their player regularly, and they can earn significant money, I'd rather watch an event where the likes of Beth and Lissy, those mid-late 20s, and circa 600 odd, are more like 'gatekeepers' than actual legit contenders or favourites for the title, if that makes sense? As in, they are a very welcome addition to the field, and could push the higher ranked players who would have to turn up, and possibly beat them if they are playing above and below their usual respective levels, and can also provide a good yardstick for some of the more promising youngsters, but not expected to actually win the event. Freya is a bit younger, and has obviously been far higher ranked ranked previously, but she's kind of slipping into that category when you see she is 2-12 in her last 14 tour matches (both wins against opponents 1100+), which were predominantly at W15 / W15 Q level.
The match ups look a bit better on paper tomorrow, and you're looking at closer 13/8, 7/4, 9/4, 11/4 type odds for the underdog in 4 of the 6 matches, with Kim and Annali providing their usual 9/1s and 16/1s in the other two, but bar Kylie vs Beth (yardstick, and tight match 2 weeks ago), there's not particularly much that grabs my attention.
Tuesday's Order of Play
Matches are alternate with the men's
Court 1
Not Before: 11:15 Beth Grey v Kylie Bilchev
Not Before: 14.00 Freya Christie v Annali Olivelle
Not Before: 17.00 Emily Appleton v Olivia Nicholls
Court 2
Not Before: 11:15 Alice Gillian v Nadia Rawson
Not Before: 14.00 Tanysha Dissanayake v Danielle Daley
Not Before: 17.00 Eliz Maloney v Kimberly Mpukusa
Not sure what's happened to Tanysha this series, but last year she took Eden, Lissey, and Beth all to a MTB in her one St Georges showing, even 4-6 4-6 against Emily Ap was a decent showing, but she's been well beaten in the vast majority of matches over the 2 weeks so far.
Longest odds I've seen for one of these matches, but then I don't often check.
Eliz is 1/33 to beat Kimberly (1.03?), but I'm not tempted by 9/1 for the reverse.

Those were the odds last night. Kim and Annali huge underdogs as expected. I think Dannielle was the 11/4 shot. They did of course exchange wins over the course of that week.
