Week 11 - WTA 250 $235K Abierto Seguros, Mexico Hard

Kovinic has withdrawn with a back injury so yes Harriet will take her place.

Shes now had 2 LL spots and had a victory against an old bird who was injured but played on anyway.

Harriet in as a lucky loser to play Heather.

Seriously ?

Well, that's a win-win situation biggrin

Harriet shouldn't be there anyway so that's all upside.

And Heather gets an 'easier' match

And we get a guaranteed second round

 biggrin Indeed.

Just hope it's on at a half decent viewing time. I'd be happy with anything up until an 11pm start. They do have evening sessions starting at midnight (UK), but not sure Heather-Harriet would warrant one of those, especially as it was Acapulco, and not Monterrey, that Heather won last year.

Tennis forum had mentioned on Sunday that Kovinic had a back injury and wouldn't play.

Katie Boulder is due on court around 6 pm British time today. She opens play on the second court.

Heather is playing her doubles , second match on court 4 at c. 7.15pm.

A typing error here and Katie Boulter has become Katie Boulder.

Tennis abstract has made the junior Wimbledon runner up of 2017 Ann Li favourite to win.But really a very open tournament.

Ok, I'll probably regret this but I don't rate Li (based on one match I watched her play live a few years ago - hardly a good base but hey.....) so I'm predicting she doesn't win.

Of course, a more useful and brave stance would be to predict who IS going to win, not lose. Er, not sure....... will think.....

Theyve got her as quite a clear favourite as well, well ahead of the field

R1: WATSON, Heather (GBR) 5 64 (CH=38 2015) v DART, Harriet (GBR) LL 153 (CH=121 2019)
R1: BOULTER, Katie (GBR) 317 (CH=82 2019) v SCHMIEDLOVA, Anna Karolina (SVK) 517 (CH=213 2015)

Heather played Harriet in the SF in Surbiton in 2017 winning 6-1 6-2.

She's posted some really good recent results, 6-1 for the year (only loss to Sabalenka), and is 13-2 across her last 15, winning a big ITF title and sharing a WTA 500 title. Wins against the likes of Brady, Kudermetova, Kostyuk, even Clara Tauson, which looks better now, so she will have to be one of the main contenders given it's not the strongest field. The bookies seem to have 3 or 4 ranging from 6-9/1, and she is one of the favourites there.

Time for Katie. Just switched Amazon on so not sure if it's been mentioned already, but I've completely lost track of her PRs. She seems to have used up a fair few, so there can't be too many left after this one? Anyone know?

3-0*, and now the trainer out for Katie with some sort of foot issue. She was a break up in the first set, pretty sure it was *3-2 at one stage, so I think that's 7 of the last 8 games for AKS.
