Osorio Serrano got one of the Q v Q spots, playing Juvan the Q1 seed. Lucky loser Kucova wan't so lucky - she plays Sloane Stevens, the top seed.
I think it is Sloane Stephens not Sloane Stevens. However I think drawing Sloane at the moment is not such a bad thing as she's not in the form that once saw her win the US Open.
I was just going to say, I'll be quite interested to see how the bookies price up Stephens vs Kuckova. Name-wise you would think/hope it would be a straightforward win, but Stephens has astonishingly lost 22 of her last 30 matches since losing to JoKo at Wimbledon 2019, 7 of them against players outside the top 100 (like Kuckova), and while Gracheva is a step up on Kuckova, Gracheva was the 1.7 (just under 8/11) pre match favourite to beat Sloane in her last outing, and subsequently won 6-2 6-2. When you see her record over the past 20 months or so, she really is one of main benefactors of the current ranking system, and lucky to be seeded, but maybe a shot at a sub 150 LL could finally be spark needed to get something going?

Sloane also recently lost several family members due to covid but has been generally poor with flashes of brilliance since her slam win.
Mentioning Jo and Sloane reminds one she was a great match up for Jo in 2019. It started in Brisbane, where Jo won and followed up with Jo winning in Rome, Paris and Wimbledon,.

Yeah, I did read about her losing some members on TF unfortunately, but her decline has been so longstanding that it's hard to tell if that had any impact on her actual results. She won Miami, and reached the FO and WTA finals since her slam win, which is solid, but there's basically been nothing since mid 2019.
She has been made the circa 1/2 (1.5) favourite for what it's worth.
