I would think that the only crucial match today is Lissey v Liv with the winner progressing to the semis. You'd expect Freya, Emily and Beth to win, but if matches defied the rankings then it could get very interesting. I've been pleasantly surprised how competitive some of the lower-ranked players have been, not necessarily reflected by the scorelines.
I didn't realise that Nadia Rawson is also a student currently at Loughborough (as well as Ella).
And Kylie at the academy there:
"Loughborough, as hosts of the event, were designated two wildcard entrants for alumni duo George Houghton and Olivia Nicholls, who will be joined in the draw by current students Nadia Rawson and Ella Taylor, and Loughborough University National Tennis Academy player Kylie Bilchev."
Yes, Lissey beats Liv 4 & 1 and wins Pool A over Freya. I presume she will play the runner-up in Pol B, which is still wide open, with Beth, Alice and Kylie all mathematically possible to go through.
Emily of course already tops Pool B, and will play Freya tomorrow.
Beth struggling against some big hitting by Kylie. 3-6 0-0* All to do..........
Struggling against the flicky, lofted quasi-moonballs more, I'd say. Beth was trying to do all the work and got herself all a bit mixed up and Kylie did well to take advantage.
Kylie does well to vary her shots, throwing in the more weighted shot to surprise. And has good reflex timing. But so many of Kylie's forehands are leaning backwards and wristy.
