She may well be heading to Doha where the qualifying cut off is dropping like a stone.

The Doha cut off seems to be 177 currently, based on this link - has it dropped further and how far out would Eden be?

Some of those players listed there are still in the tournament in Adelaide.
I see Swiatek, Collins, Teichmann, Bencic

It's now dropped to 285 - last in at the moment is Lukas. It's a massive long shot, just wondered if that why the girls had come to Egypt if they were going to give the two Middle East events a go. There have been spaces in the past.

Very tight first set which Millie lost 5-7

But she's 3-1 up in the second....

Yes, very close, lots of breaks and untaken break points for both. Now back to 3-3. Bookies had it very slightly in favour of opponent before the start and they don't get much wrong. Trying to keep an eye on the score and cricket while working, 3 screens needed....

Yes, no idea how she sees it (or her coach) but it seems to me she's had a very useful trip out to Sharm.

She's played consistently well, at a level of about 1000 or a tad better, getting a lot of matches under her belt, against a good range of players.

She should be pleased and have a lot to build on.

Naomi and Eden have now given the expected walkover in the doubles.

I'm pleased to see Naomi playing much more regularly and giving it a real go to try and improve her ranking, but that said, her results this season really aren't great, and it really is beginning to look as if she is terminal decline and that her singles days are now over.

If this continues, she may well look to either give up or possibly just continue in doubles. Her doubles results are giving her some encouragement I think, and although she is quite old to making the transition to a specialist doubles player, there are lots of players continuing into their mid 30's or even longer, playing just doubles. She and Eden seem to be a good doubles pair - maybe they can rise up the rankings together in doubles - as someone who has followed Naomi's career for a long time, that is her last hope now as a player I think.
