Yes, whatever the reason or combination of reasons re such as an important school year and covid with related hastle, if and when Emma fully commits to the tour she has so much time on her side to achieve many of her goals.
I think the subject of Emma crops up every time we see the name of Clara Tauson appear. We kind of wish she was up with Clara I'm afraid. The other top junior from that time in 2018 when Emma was playing junior grand Slams to win big was Iga Swiatek.

For me, Clara's progress so far is actually very encouraging as to what Emma might begin to do in time. No reason that a quiet tennis period in these unusual times should hugely hold her back in the long run.
Yes, and look at the Katie Swan v Cici Bellis story - i.e. like Emma/Clara, there was a sort of feeling that 'if only' Katie could be like Cici.
And, then, of course, Cici was badly injured.....
These players are all very young. As Indy says, what Clara and Emma are doing this year is hardly all that indicative of where they will be in 5 years time, especially if one is simply not playing much, rather than playing and playing a lower level (which also is hardly a lifetime sentence)

Cici Bellis was also on a par in ranking terms as a teenager with Ana Konjuh. That didn't turn out happily either.
Another player you could add to the mix of most success at the age of 17 and was a rival of Laura Robson was American Melanie Oudin. Laura beat her at Junior Wimbledon in 2008 when Oudin was top seed. Oudin peaked in 2009 reaching the quarter finals of the US Open beating 4 Russians in Pavlyuchenkova (still playing in 2021), Dementieva, Sharapova and Petrova. Another player who had illness issues at a young age.

It might in the end be like the story of the tortoise and the hare. Slow and steady wins the day.

In the short term Clara looks like she might win the WTA tournament in Lyon as a qualifier. She has beaten Alexandrova and Giorgi with ease. Is Emma studying Maths judging by one of her posts on social media? Is the opposite of what she might begin to do in time, there's no time like the present. ,

Well within a week Clara has won her first WTA tournament(Lyon) as a qualifier beating 7 opponents without dropping a set. Can we look forward to similar from Emma at some stage? It wasn't the strongest line-up of all time but the leading French players were there. Doesn't look like they've got a Pierce or Mauresmo amongst their players at the moment.
