Yes, her results haven't been great for a while. Played regularly throughout 2019. Big gap in appearances from March to October 2020 (obviously) but no obvious injury breaks. Katie beat her 2&3 in Dallas in October 2019, and she beat Katie B in AO QR1 in 2018 when Katie retired in the final set.
Katie S could meet the wonderfully named Volynets in the third round if they both come through - Volynets must be the best name for a tennis player ever.
On a less jokey note, I see that the Number 2 seed has withdrawn, so that gives Katie S potentially 2 rounds without facing a seed. Anisimova is in the tournament I think, because she got Covid on the plane out to the Aussie Open and returned to the USA to recover. I am guessing that having had Covid, she may not be on top form for a while, but it does seem to affect different players in different ways, so who knows.

You can watch the matches at web.playsight.com, but it's a bit of hassle as you have to create a free account. I did, and have Anisimova vs Montgomery on, but it's very much on in the background, and no score board, so night ideal, but there if anyone wanted to watch.
I think you can watch all courts, Naiktha's is there.

Katie Volynets was the US 18 junior champion of 2019. She had a wild card into the US Open where she lost to Bianca Andreescu on route to her title win. In a different era she could have played doubles with Anna Smashnova.
