Just watched the replay on Amazon prime, never realised it was on otherwise I would have watched it duel with Serena on my laptop. She certainly packs a punch and creates good angles.

Talking of Sam Murray anybody know whats happened to her. That was a big surprise she wasnt in Australia. Missed out on a lot of earnings as well. Has she retired or maybe pregnant?

Divij was in Melbourne - lost in the first round of the doubles, but as far as I can tell Sam hasn't played since the French Open. She's not one for social media though - very few posts.

Fran is now live ranked 187th, broke the top 200 and moves to GB number 4 ahead of Sam Murray.

Yes, according to the live-tennis site but actually no.

It had her points after qualifying (12 points) right but has now added another 60 as if she was through to the QF ( and is showing SF points if she wins her next match. She is 'just' through to the L32 (16 points).

Taking into account her 40 AO qualifying points, and taking off her 15th and 16th counters, live-tennis appears to have it as: 268 + (40 + 12 + 60) - (2 + 1) = 377 points. It should be 268 + (40 + 12 +16) - (2 + 1) = 333 points. So still outside the top 200.

Just need to win a further 2 matches to catch up with live-tennis

I see OpenEraRankings isn't even acknowledging that she's playing here and just has her on 307 points.

Whatever, superb stuff, Fran !!!

Youll be pleased to know live-tennis has changed their points for Fran, theyve increased her to 383 and to 186 in live rankings !

Yes, live-tennis looks as if it has now upped Fran's qualifying points to the normal 18 for a WTA 250. But this one round qualifier/64 MD is not normal and the drawsheet on the TNNS app shows 12 points for qualifying. Does make sense that the qualifying points would be less than the MD R1 points.

As for OER, it still shows 34 points on standby to be added the following Monday 01/03, so it appears also to be awarding 18 points for qualifying, ie. 18 + 16 = 34 so far. I don't understand the week delay.

Hey-ho ...

Jo has been replaced in the draw by G Da Silva Fick

Still a great few weeks for Fran, well done.

Pity for Jo, but hope it's a case that the issue is not too bad, just bad enough for her to withdraw here.

Yes I've just noticed now she's  withdrawn but surprised she entered in the 1st place

Commentator at the start of warm up announced  Da Silva Fick was a last minute replacement for Jo who  had   a  recurrence of the abdominal strain which caused her withdrawl from the AO last week. Not surprised because it was hard to imagine  Jo playing again within a week of abdominal strain at AO..

Fran does win her doubles however so still some British interest in Melbourne this week.

Will jo move onto Adelaide now for next weeks event?

Might be better to wait until Miami starting week 22nd March. 5 weeks  off.

Late decision by Jo to withdraw. Hopefully this indicates Adelaide might still be a possibility?

Fran will destroy her doubles CH 1065 from September 2016, just after her 16th birthday. She last played a ranking tournament doubles in a 15K in March 2017.

Fran did it again, this time she and Podoroska beat the 2nd seeds - Nicelescu must be sick of Fran by now!

Into last 8 and play Martic and Sevastova
