How many points for Fran for that win? Another great result.
I'm not sure but she is +49 for the week so I think 9 from this or somewhere around there.
If it helps, the new TNNS Live APP which is getting better all the time has links to the usual draw sheets showing points and prize money for WTA, ATP and ATP Challenger events (main draw and qualies). Looks like ITF draws will follow in due course.
This confirms 12 points for Fran for qualifying which was a great job by her. She is definitely improving all the time which is great to see.
Definitely worth checking this out if you havent already and Btw there are links to highlights for some matches from the APP from this tournament.
Good stuff, brittak. I've now downloaded the app. I see that it's 16 points for a MD R1/L64 win. Tough one for Fran though.
Would have liked Katie to pick up a win over these two events but nevermind. Unfortunate to draw Kasatkina twice.
Well done Fran
Two steps forward, one step back for Katie in Australia.
Yes shame for Katie - unfortunately back to the slog of lower level ITFs for a while (if she can get in them of course!).
Hopefully there will be more tournaments in the next few months, but at the moment qualifying at W25 looks like the best she can get for an entry.
I'm pretty certain Katie still has PR for some events, she's used her 2 Slam ones, not sure about the Premier ones but there is still the 4 lower level PRs. Got to use them wisely
I'm not sure how the lead up tournament to the AO was allocated, did she need to use a PR for that or was that automatic entry for anyone in the AO. Miami is still on so may see her there meanwhile it makes sense to enter into 25k on ranking alone to get some match practice rather than waste a PR with little potential payback.

The one good thing with Zheng is that she has hardly played since the pandemic and hasn't had a tour win for 12 months. I see Bet365 have it 8/15 (Zheng) vs 11/8 which is pretty unheard of for someone ranked more than 200 spots lower. It obviously won't be easy, but maybe not quite as bad as it looks on paper.
I did read the post match thread on TF at the time when Zheng lost in 3 sets to Begu (in the same tournament Begu beat Jo), and it was seemingly a fairly high quality match, and she did also go 3 sets in her AO R1 defeat, so she might be playing well, but just not getting the Ws, but it'll be more good WTA experience for Fran however it goes.

I was wondering that at the time too. I was hoping for the latter, but think I think it is included unfortunately.
It'll likely depend on agencies and what not, but we do often do well in terms of WCs at Miami, including Katie B with a QWC in 2018, where she went on to qualify, so maybe that could be an option this year as well, but hopefully we will see her in that event either way, although it would just be qualifying if she was to use her PR there.
Fran won the first set then lost the second but is a break up third set 2-1 serving. Didnt even realise due to being fascinated by Serena and Sabalenka. Would be her first top 100 win if she managed it.
Wow go Fran 6-2 in the third. That looks like a magnificent win there taking out an experienced 44 ranked player. Good way to win her first top 100 ranked victory.
I see Kenin was beaten by Gradecki who was unheard of a couple of weeks ago.Maybe she was thinking she should be playing in the main draw fhis week and not here.
