How do automatic withdrawals work?

A player can only be on one main draw or qualifying list (obviously) although they can initially enter up to 6 events. If they are only on the alternate list, they will remain until they get promoted into qualifying or main draw when they will then get withdrawn from all other tournaments. Thanks. I thought perhaps players could rank tournaments in order of preference.

Yes, they can, but it is doesn't come into effect until after the tournament level and main draw/qualifying criteria have been applied.

Boca Raton, USA $25K (Hard) - (Bains, Swan) Katie Boulter 4th alternate, keeping her options open

Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt $15K (Hard) - Burrage, Silva, Broady - the first two should be seeded.

Tunisia $15K (Hard) - Lindh - if she recovers

Not surprised Id doubt that hed have been able to go from South Africa to Gran Canaria, without looking up Spain/Eu restriction. Wonder if Jay will be able to play week 2. Having spent week 1 in Kazakhstan.

To answer my own question it wasnt as long ago as I thought the Antwerp win was his 4th tournament in as many weeks back in October 2019.
