If anyone could tell me where to find h2h's either on WTA website or elsewhere, will add them if/where necessary.
Overall - could've been better, could've been a lot worse (at least all of Fran, Heather & Katie) have avoided seeds immediately in R1.
Given a slam in theory is the top 128 in the world, a series of players ranked around 50s and 70s is probably par, all tough but maybe one of our girls can win - jo though has a great opener and should expect to win that one.

If Fran and Heather were to win their first round matches they would meet in the 2nd round. Jo has a difficult first round opponent who was the leading qualifier.

Good spot re: Fran & Heather. At least they avoided the same fate as Dan & Cam who meet each other in R1 of the men's singles! I think Juvan will be tricky for Jo, esp if they haven't played before. Jo doesn't always do well with unknowns.
No. Although their R1 matches are next to each other in the draw, Fran vs Heather is a potential R3 meeting. You don't escape being bracketed with a seed in the first two rounds.
If she wins her R1 match, Heather will play (21) Kontaveit or Sasnovich in R2. Fran would play (16) Martic or (Q) Danilovic.
Get through all that and it could be (1) Barty in R4. I'd take that!

Albeit on a different surface but I see Juvan beat Angie Kerber in the first round of the French Open last year. I see Jo and Heather are entered in the lesser event in Melbourne in the 2nd week in case they have a short stay in the main event.

Do you remember when the Wimbledon plate event was a big deal, up until the late 70s. Losers in round one and two, maybe first week, could enter. Strong fields and played in 2nd week on the same courts.
thats effectively what the week 2 event here is. Not sure it should have ranking points really but heh.

And Jo would face a qualie in round 2. Javan maybe talented but jo really couldnt have a better draw. TTman wont agree with me Im sure, no doubt its a conspiracy to have her fall in round one, but she needs to take advantage of this and target week 2
