Week 6 - Australian Open, Melbourne, Australia Hard

The only thing about that call is that when Fran challenged it, they looked at the wrong shot, and apparently under the rules, they cannot then find the right one to challenge. I suppose it is to stop a player saying 'I didn't mean that ball, I meant the other one' and therefore putting in numerous challenges, but it was a clear error by the umpires.

Got to say that I don't think it had much impact on the end result though. I have seen Shelby play a few times, and when playing well, she seems to get into a relaxed zone like she was in today, and free of pressure, hits consistently well, and it is only if you can rattle her and get her out of that zone, that her game rapidly appears to unravel - I remember that happening when she lost at last year's US Open - can't remember the opponent who did it to her, though (Pironkova?).

Yes, I think most of us think agree re: Errani! Hoping Venus beats her today.

Don't  forget fhat Vondrousova was runner up  in Paris 2019. She then had an injury problem. Cirstea apart from beating Kvitova here also beat Jo in US Open last year.
