Katie is making a really good go at this.
At the start of the second set, she seemed a bit flat and Osaka really stepped it up and played like the champion she is to go 4-0 up.
Katie though is now staging a good comeback and got back to 3-4 and had a break point but unfortunately couldnt take it and is down 3-5 but serving.
Ouch - looking ominous. Since she missed the break point to make it 4-4 in the second, it has all gone a bit pear-shaped and Osaka now leads 3-0 in the 3rd having won the last 10 points in a row.
Katie rather fell away at the end and loses the final set for a scoreline of 6-3, 3-6, 1-6.
Osaka certainly raised her level and played well at the end so ultimately I guess disappointment for Katie but she can go away from this with a lot of confidence and encouragement as she heads into next week and then in her quest to get back into the top 100. Enjoyable match.

Shame for Katie but that's what good champions do - raise their level when required.
Begu finally wins the 3rd set tie break 7-4 in a very long match; I thought Jo might have won this one, but at least she made the 3rd round and both her and Katie B are taking decent form into next week, and there is always the argument pre-Grand Slam, that you don't really want six long arduous matches immediately before starting a 7 match tournament, especially in the Aussie heat of Melbourne.
