Ok Boulter played pretty damn well! Am I wrong in thinking when she was younger her backhand was considered her better wing? Because that forehand, when on, is cracking!
Where can I find TV coverage for this ? I finished work at midnight last night and couldn't work out where to watch it (looked on the Aussie Open website for help) and too tired to look for ages. I'd love to see Katie B play when I finish tonight, as it will be really interesting to see how she gets on against Coco.
The result last night will not only help her ranking and her wallet, but should give her a lot of confidence that her preparations are on track and that her current ranking does not represent where she is actually at, but is due to her past injuries. Fingers crossed that regardless of what happens against Gauff, that she gets a good first round draw next week.
Coco was full of unforced errors, according to tennis forum at least...
I noticed Katie did pre season in Spain with Alex de Minaur (and Cam!) who mustve hooked her up as dont recall her being involved there before. Wonder if thats had a good influence.
Does Katie have a chance against Coco? Against any other 16 year old she'd be the favourite but...
Coco had a really long match yesterday, didn't she?, against Teichmann? Which went to a third-set TB, I think.
So it's possible that (a) Coco is not playing all that well or (b) even if she is, she's pretty tired today.
So Katie's got a very good chance, I'd say
bet365 has it as Gauff 1/9, Boulter 11/2. I certainly think that offers good value re Katie. Gauff might thrash her but I think it's a more unpredictable encounter than the odds suggest.
