Goes back to my post a couple above. Another opportunity for her, and while specific match ups, and one off superb performances exist, if you can't beat a lower ranked 28 year old (next week) who's been on tour for years and never made the top 150, despite being a French WC golden girl, I don't hold out too much hope against the potential opponents in the main, but we'll see. I can't see her being an 8/13 pre match fave again against many, bar maybe Shvedova.
I guess it's more WTA experience for her no matter what happens, plus extra cash in the bank. Interested to see who she draws.

Pity about the result, and while yes it was quite an opportunity in a WTA 500, I do think, Ace, that you are being a bit too harsh about this loss to the soon to be 28yo WR 289 ( CH 154 in 2016 )
21 yo Jodie herself is 'just' WR 263 with a CH of 233 in 2019 and it seemed to have been largely pretty competitive. Hardly appears awful and we didn't see the match.
Anyway, yes, it no doubt will be very tough in the MD but I'm not sure she's playing too badly so let's hope she can produce a decent match.
Don't get me wrong, it was certainly a 'losable' match, but it's the type you'd expect in R2 of a typical W25 event, or even quals in these back end 2020 events, so it's just a bit disappointing that it was such a good opportunity for her, and who knows what's around the corner, she could be back to W25 qualifying. It's more important than ever to take these opportunities, like vs Kerkove in Dubai the other week.
I guess that I might have had more hopes for her than her potential natural ceiling, if that makes sense, so it just highlights it a bit more from my perspective.
But, other than 12 points, and maybe a but of 'stock' in my mind, she has the same opportunity as if she had won, so good luck to her.
Ha, typical. Normally I wouldn't mind, but, given the Q field, Jodie was the highest ranked player so Heather would likely have had a good chance against most, and then a 'free hit' for Jodie from a GB perspective, but we obviously can't get more than one through now.

On the plus side, we aare guaranteed 1.
True. I'm often a conservative person (not necessarily political, ha) and would often be quite happy to guarantee that, but maybe not so much here, but at least we do have R2 interest (GB wise) as you say.
Heather would have more chance of an extended run of the two I would have thought, but I'm hoping Jodie can pull it off, although suspect it might go similar to their recent BotB contest in terms of score.
On a diffetent note, not a big issue either, but when you post now, does it go back to the first page of the thread for you, rather than the page where the latest post will be? Just started happening for me the past couple of days.

Yes it does - bit annoying
Heather v Jodie is 5th match on Court 1 tomorrow (Are all courts televised?)
