Australian Open WC

Delpo is my favourite player in world but still difficult to say he should get wc into main draw grandslams, Goran and Marcos B was actually their farewell tournaments this for me is fine, just not jumping ahead of current in form perhaps more deserving players due to past glory (especially as a junior Andy recieved more help than anyone, being involved in the two biggest systems in the world).

As far as recognized players, some two years ago in my workplace, a week before the AO we were contacting Tommy Robredo (former top 8, and if not a few months then a year or so after he beat Roger at the US Open) to see if he albeit injured would be taking the last spot in the qualifying as it was between him or our player going as an alternate. Why not for him as well? I believe he's still playing to this day

Sorry but why not Delpo? I don't really understand your reason... Tommy is great also, would not have an issue with him getting any WCs. Although if he was injured at the time your work was offering a WC, that would be a waste of one, no?

Delpo is amazing player and person definitely, but is seriously injured and unlikely to play a full two week tournament giving best performance and also not hurting himself, same as Andy. Taking wildcards which could be used to help young players or even just unlucky other players out is not problem for me, giving them to ageing injury prone players unlikely to compete to their best level I don't agree with this

Crowd pleaser though (same as Andy). I remember him getting a WC for the FO a few years ago and he was on a small court. It was packed, the line was ridiculous.

Obviously we aren't going to agree but Delpo deserved that WC in my opinion.

Clearly Delpo, Andy et al shoudnt get any WC for anything then going by your logic but sometimes injuries are just freak things (Bethanie Mattek Sands for example at Wimbledon) or Sabine Lisicki more recently in the ITF Dubai tournament and can happen at any time to any player, WC or not.

Ultimately Tennis is entertainment and quite frankly I'd choose to watch Delpo over pretty much anyone else and most definitely over someone that's never been ranked better than 100 no matter how much potential they might have. The only player I can think of that I'd make an exception of the 100 or better rule is Sinner 18months ago but only because a friend had watched him at Rome and been blown away by his talent.

It all depends on your perspective/point of view. I would say actual tennis players/coaches might tend more towards the tennis players point of view, fans/spectators would tend more towards the entertainment side of things
