It's already been announced. Check out the "Andy Murray" thread.

I was hoping for some debate, but would imagine that everyone on this site will take the wrong side, so might end up having to debate with myself

A WC for a 5 time RU makes sense, regardless of if the WC is called Andy Murray or not.

Other wildcards that have been announced (all Aussies):

Christopher OConnell
Marc Polmans
Daria Gavrilova
Astra Sharma
Maddison Inglis
Lizette Cabrera

If only, a list of young players who might need those opportunities, not ageing beaten down players who may not wish to have to play qualifying, he had more than enough opportunities as a young player and is now taking chances away from the next generation, not a lot of people will like this evaluation, it's also not really a good move for tennis

I get the point your making. But are wildcards just for young and up and coming players? Andy also has a wildcard to Del Ray Beach 250. Which again you could question. However lets say a lesser tennis nation wanted to host an ATP 250 event. Maybe one of the African countries as there is not much tennis there. Now Andy being at 122 probably wouldnt get in but his name would help market the event.

Yes the AO doesnt need the marketing in this instance. However I see them for more than just young players, those coming back from long term injury where the Number of PR events isnt enough to get up to speed etc... thats what I Put Andy into. If the player has simply dropped down the rankings because hes not good enough then Id agree they shouldnt get them.

Wildcards are an interesting debate. Especially when it comes to GS as the money a player can get from losing in the first round can bankroll a season on the lower levels of the tour.

Well the authorities made the decision not you or I. Plenty of people agree with you, maybe not here but other places on social media, forums etc. Others don't like the reciprocal WC either. Perhaps some of the younger ones will end up getting WC's into the main draw or quals or the other tournaments Oz are holding.

For me, Andy shouldn't have a MD WC here because no-one should get Slam MD WCs. They are our global elite events, not a local event that needs a wee boost - qualify by ranking or err qualifying. Thanks for the opportunity, I hadn't mentioned that for a while

But we do have Slam MD WCs and, given that ongoing situation, a 5 times finalist seems to me to be a very reasonable choice. Quite apart from his last appearance here in 2019 being seemingly his final bow out when, ranked in the 200s, he came back from 2 sets down to just lose in 5 sets to Bautista Agut.

Not surprised. He did think he wouldn't be ready yet

With wildcards for the main draw Fran Jones has made the ladies qualifying cut. Great achievement.

Great news for Fran. The last year has been good for her, despite everything,
That must also mean that Jodie is about 10 places outside now.

Is there a full list available, link, for womens Aussie open qualies and Alts? Mens always seems well serviced with sites like Darts Rankings (which bizarrely covers darts and tennis?!) but they do mens only?
