When the groups are drawn , I am certain that some tactical voting will take place in player of the season. This is fine but if you do vote tactically , please note others may choose to do the same and your favoured actual player may lose out if you swap your vote - its a risk !
Nov/Dec PoM Vote Round one - EVENING Sun 12th Dec to EVENING Mon 13th Dec COMPLETED Nov/Dec PoM Final - EVENING Mon 13th Dec to EVENING Tues 14th Dec IN PROGRESS Player of Season Wild card vote - EVENING Tues 14th to EVENING Wed 15th December Player of Season Vote - Rd 1 MORNING Thu 16th December-MIDDAY Fri 17th December Player of Season Vote - SF - AFTERNOON Fri 17th December - EVENING Sat 18th December Player of Season Vote - Final - EVENING Sat 18th December - EVENING Sun 19th December
player of the season groups are provisionally selected - there will be 28 players, 4 groups of 7 with 3/4 men and women in each and juniors, wheelchair and doubles players evenly spread. One or max two wildcards depending on where the PoM vote ends this evening.
What I can confirm is that there will 28 players in the PoS vote from Thursday - 4 groups of 7, then 12 in the semis and a final 4. We have 26 qualifiers currently and only of the PoM contenders isnt already in the field, so depending on their position, we will have 26/27 qualifiers and, thus, 1 or 2 wildcards to make up the 28. All will become clear in the next 2 hours or so.
The PoM standings are also causing much confusion in my planned groupings, I am trying to make them all 3 or 4 each of men and women, separate out the PoM winners over the year and keep genres like juniors and wheelchair and doubles separate. I will get there but it is tricky!
So, Beth becomes our 27th qualifier - full list below. 1 more to be decided in the wild card vote

Worthy of note, of the 27 players already into the player of season vote, 15 of them where in the player of the season field last year as well. We had 32 last year , depending on the wild card vote, roughly half the field are returning.
Last year, we had a voting range of 28 to 33 in all the PoS groups and an average of 30.33. It would be great to beat that this time around, keen to see a great end to my tenure in this space and really hope everyone supports it ! There is one less round and thus less groups than last time and I hope this makes for more interesting voting !

The 4 wheelchair players are all in separate groups; the 6 juniors (if we include JPJ) are also spread evenly across the groups, as much as 6 into 4 go.
The players I saw as doubles exponents, or those who's doubles play got them into this vote, are also spread nice and evenly.
The POM vote winners this season are all aligned and nicely spread; as are the runners up. 11 players had those accolades and each group has 4 of them, with one group having 3.
The men and the women are split nice and evenly as well, 3 or 4 per group - we have two groups with 4 men and 3 women, and two group with 3 men and 4 women.
The semis groups (the path to the final) are also sorted and drawn in terms of knowing which position in the opening groups goes where in the semis. It feels like the World Cup
And, finally, I have taken a look at seeding outside of all the above to keep apart some obvious big names and make the mix really nice and spread - and it seems to have worked.
I think you will find, as a consequence, 4 groups of 7, well spread - I am pretty certain some of the early groups will be clear cut, one or two of them might be tighter. Some of you will no doubt have a clear winner in mind but , even if that is the case, lets try and vote across the groups and recognise all of our top players and what they have done in a season that is one of the best I can remember for British tennis.
Last year the final 4 covered possibly a good mix of the best of British - Joe, Dan, Fran and Alfie - and let's hope we get to a similar 4 in this years final.
These will be my final polls before I call it a day - as mentioned elsewhere, I am passing on this particular baton. I hope everyone is able to engage and help make them an interesting and memorable set of polls to bow out on!!
