In Turkey, J4, in the boys, Matt Southcombe won his R1 match too. Harry Rock and Derrick Chen are yet to play.
In the girls, Given Roach lost but Ranah Stoiber won her R1 match.
In Johannesburg, J5, Will Jansen won his R1 match, beating the 5th seed
Decent win for Matt Southcombe, his opponent was higher ranked and Matt has a Qatari lower ranked opponent next. Derek Chen is 2nd seed I see, and the two of them are in the same half of the draw, so would be nice to see one of them have a good run this week
Ranah is the one to keep an eye on this week, I reckon.
Not saying she'll do the best, but (after Eva) she's our star 2005-er in the girls and hasn't played much this autumn
She's the girl from a not-too affluent family, supported by the French Connection man, I think.
(The GB-Irish Roy is also 2005)
Matt is 2003, as are Harry, and Derrick (don't know the first two boys but always been surprised that Derrick hasn't done a little better than he has, I liked him when I saw him play). The 2003-ers are nearly last year juniors so time to really rack up some junior points and impress those US selectors.
Jansen is 2004 and seemed to be much touted as a 12 year-old but hasn't quite moved on as some, maybe, would have expected.

Yes, though Harry is also in the doubles, as is Talia N-G and Given, and Derrick (in theory). Although Harry is playing with Derrick so if Derrick has withdrawn from singles, he might be out the dubs too and leave Harry stranded.
(I don't really follow the dubs until SF stage, although sometimes I mention it if I happen to see it)

Well, it certainly was 'interesting' to see how Ranah did - and the answer unfortunately is not very well.
She lost today in Turkey, 0 & 2 against the 7th seed. Which is pretty harsh.
Matt Southcombe also lost but far closer, although to an unseeded player.
In Pakistan, though, young Roy though is still fighting strong, winning his QF in two easy sets.
(Him and partner lost their dubs 8-10 in the MTB against the top seeds which, as with Hep last week, might be a blessing in disguise - just focus on that singles, Roy).
