You've basically got 3 different levels of preparation here on top of the normal advantags that top players get, 4 if you count the Australians that have stayed in Australia although they have an element of balance as they haven't played competitively for months. I can't imagine many of the 14 day strict isolation people are going to get past the 1st round unless they get a very fortuous draw, regardless of their pedigree. I am suprised at how many don't think the advantages in Adelaide are that big of a deal. As KB said in her interview having 5 hours to do everything: travel, train, gym, eat, travel back, does mean you have to plan your gym routine as it has to be immediately after or before the Tennis training, whereas in Adelaide they don't have to do that as they get 5 hours plus gym time whenever they want so plenty of rest between training and gym
I've just seen that one of the unlucky ones, the female tennis player, Putintseva, while having to isolate in Melbourne because of coming into contact with someoene with Covid, has complained of mice in the room that she was allocated, and has been told by Victoria State officials ''to minimise interaction with the mice.''
The humorous side of me sees the almost Pythonesque officials saying, ''whatever you do, don't talk to the mice''.
Apparently she moved room and more mice were there in the new room.
I think the officials don't want the players feeding them!! but it is quite funny and must be a bit of a shock for some of the elite stars to encounter wildlife in rooms. As someone who has seen the worst of the third world accommodation, she is lucky it is only mice. I once had frogs, ****roaches and rats in one single room in Madagascar; I went out to brush my teeth in the bathroom and there was the biggest rat I have ever seen, literally sat in the sink looking at me. Put me right off using the sink!!
Anyway I've a feeling this story might run and run - I've no idea if anyone else has seen it and posted it elsewhere, so apologies if anyone has.
PS I have had my post censored by naming an inappropriate insect. Hilarious - has made this post a lot more funny I think.

I saw that and it feeds lots of jokes. Apparently though , there is a trip advisor review of same hotel where a customer complained of mice 2 years ago, so known problem. On a serious note, I think it is pretty rubbish to have mice in your room and Probably not acceptable really - but very funny ! Although why it only seems to be her is my question!

Blame the Activeboard puritans for that, not us mods! The easiest way round that particular problem is to substitute an "0" for the "o" & it'll go through. Same applies to "sh!t"/"sh1t". Preview the post to check.

I wasn't bothered it did it - I thought it was hilarious that I couldn't name an insect.
On the tennis forum on the thread Players not able to train they give a full list of who has been seem training and who has not. Can't spot Fran's but a tick for Jo anc Katie and and an x for Heather. This is better than anything the WTA has produced.

Pretty sure that Fran can train, she is mentioned along with Siegmund and Brengle as a Yes and they can train.

Just checked on the tennis forum and Fran is ticked off as one of the players having been seen practising. I think there's only 13 players not accounted for as either been seen practising or not able to practise.
