Without wanting to look past the young Argentine, who seems like she could be competent, I've just saw that Garland has a QWC here and is a potential FQR opponent for Anna, so it's going to be pretty difficult just to get into a W15 main draw this week.
Joanna originally withdrew on 26th October - the day before the withdrawal deadline - so couldn't have been intending to stay for this week. She'd have been comfortably in the main draw otherwise.

This proved more prescient than expected as Anna failed to get past Solana today, losing 7-10 in the MTB.
So the Joanna Garland confrontation is put off till another day....
Good win for Garland today as the betting underdog against young Kudermetova (not a great day for the sisters). Opponent twice served for the match in the second set, but Joanna ended up winning 6-4 in the 3rd. She plays the second seed Samir tomorrow who she lost to in the final 4 weeks ago. She's (Joanna) won 16 of her last 18 matches now (all at Sharm W15).
