Shame for Dan but Sonego played such a good, attractive game of tennis that you couldn't help revel in it and wish him well.

Also, I know that all the tennis media interest in Italy is on Sinner and Mussetti etc., the exciting newbies, with a little left over for Fognini and ol' favourites.

So players like Sonego get ignored - great to see him have his moment

So what can the LTA learn from the Italians??

Well, an LTA bod was quoted as saying regarding Italian home tournaments at various levels and the progress of Italians, "just a coincidence".

Dan, a little outclassed today.

Watched Sonego a few years ago at Wimbledon qualies v Ernests Gulbis.   He showed promise but was quite vocal with his Italian temperament annoying Gulbis at times.   He seems more
contained and focused now, very talented with good coaching support.

Another solid week for Dan though.

I told you that Mr Evans would have rather played Mr Djokovic

There was an MTO after the 1st game of the 2nd set, anyone know why

Dan had a lot of treatment on his left shoulder.

Which had the commentators a little puzzled (as he's right-handed and has a one-handed backhand)

To be honest it looked like a three minute break for Dan to gather himself, during which the physioterrorist tortured his left shoulder (obviously a dispensable body part).

Yes, I wondered that too biggrin

Take a tactical MTO and get the physio to work on something irrelevant........
