No GB singles involvment as TA says, but a few top 100 players, big names, and promising youngsters involved, and the USTA have their usual top streaming service for these sort of events, if anyone wants some evening tennis this week:
I think there's just the 4 matches on the court TA. There's an hour gap now and the first doubles match will start at 8.45pm UK, and Naomi will pretty much follow on when that one finishes, assuming it's not a complete blow out / retirement, so it probably won't be too long after 10pm UK when they are on. It says 'After Rest' but I doubt one of their opponents, Raina, needs it because she has just lost her singles FQR 0-6 0-6.
I won't be watching later, but I do actually like my late evening tennis around 10/11pm, and plan to catch a few singles matches later in the week. Next weeks W80 in Tyler (Texas) is usually 6 hours behind us, but with our clocks going back on Saturday, the timings should be pretty much the same as this week.
Looks like it's just Court 11 being streamed today on those advanced streams, but there's been so much shuffling around with the order of play. Bouchard pulled out of the doubles and she was meant to be on a streamed court, so they've probably jiggled things about, but Naomi is now on Court 9. Think she should be starting shortly.
It's an excellent final. I've been following the event all week and that's the final I was hoping for right from when the draw was made.
Final is at 5pm UK and will be on that link at the top of the thread, with Ken Thomas commentary. I'll be prioritising this over the Newcastle match which is on at pretty much the same time.
Did anyone watch the match? Quite a high quality match, went into a third set, but Kostyuk started cramping right at the start of the 3rd and it's over, such a shame and tough to watch. Marta in tears.
There were 1600 watching for most of it, and the figure for much of the week was between 30-100. Also over 100 posts on TF live comms thread which is crazy for an ITF match.
Such a shame. Well done Bellis, not the way she would have wanted to win, especially as she served for the title, but very handy for her in her quest to rise back up the rankings.
I almost forgot about it, then put the stream on, and saw just the one (incomplete) game. Sad to see it end that way, but Marta was in such a state - she really shouldn't have attempted to play the one extra pointthat she did.
