Week 41 - ITF (W25) Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, France - Indoor Hard

Slight wobble at the end, broken to love, but served it out to love at the second attempt. A good set though.

I'm not so sure about that. Sam beat Valeria 6-1 6-0 in Porto a couple of weeks ago. And she's only won two matches all year, one against Naiktha in Aus Open qualifying, and the first round this week. So not really a good comparison.

Robin on the other hand won Las Vegas W25 in March, so is obviously a rising talent. So it could be close.

I was going to say similar to TA, but also reference that Chloe Paquet is now on a nine match losing streak, and that's who Valeria beat in R1 (7-6 in the decider), so it was probably a case of two very out of sorts players with one having to progress. That said, Robin is clearly a talent, so it will be very interesting. Her Robin Anderson R1 win was decent

Just wish there was a way to watch as both GB matches are intriguing.

Harriet first on centre tomorrow at 10am UK, followed by Garcia Perez's match (the winners face each other tomorrow). Then it's Harriet/Beth's doubles, followed by Kanepi, and then Jodie is on 5th (all on centre), so it could be quite late by the time she is on.

The bookies have all participants in both GB matches under evens (or 2.00), so they are all odds on, with Harriet a very slight favourite in her match, and likewise Xinyu in the Jodie match.

Thanks Ace

I see that Robin Anderson has made the doubles final with Jessika Ponchet (seeded 2)

Harriet off to a great start, breaking serve, if only she could opt to receive serve all the time she'd be top 100

How right you are ! Harriet takes the first set 6-2, and by three breaks to one. Serving percentagesactually quite decent today though !

Wins 6-2 6-4, very well done, solid win.

Possibly Garcia Perez in the semi final, who has been in great form recently at this level, her QF is up next.

Edit - but a fast start from the German Niemeier, who beat Jodie the other week.

Big fight from Robin for the last two games, I thought it might go to a tiebreak after Harriet failed to take 4 MP's, and then had to save a BP.
A good match to win.

Following the score I was thinking here we go again, 3rd set on the way but in the end a pretty routine win.

Well done, Harriet.

Nice to see it done in two sets, for once.

And no idea what sort of returner Robin is, but those are decent serving stats.

The stand-out one is the percentage of second serves won - 65% is far higher than any of the other players from yesterday - Jodie was only 38%, Wang was 30%, Garcia 29%...... in fact, it's so good that you really do wonder if Robin was missing an obvious trick, but that seems a bit unfair to Harriet maybe....

Back on court and a break up
