Just Heather in the doubles from a British point of view but let's give it a thread ...

L64 : Lara Arruabarrena (ESP) & Heather Watson CR 239 (80+159) vs Greet Minnen & Alison Van Uytvanck (BEL/BEL) CR 223 (120+103)

The Belgians were last in doubles action a couple of weeks ago when they lost the French 80K final to Sam Murray & Julia Wachaczyk, retiring at 4-1 down in the first set.

3 withdrawals so far, one Covid related due to a coach testing positive.

Looks like Em is in Paris now too. Suspect it's very much a long shot to sneak in, but worth a go.

A 4th withdrawal with the alternates to be confirmed, but I think it will be Van Der Hoek and Buzarnescu. Half a chance of getting lucky at this stage but a long shot for more pull outs once play has started.

 

Heather due to play tomorrow.

Emily's in! What a lovely bonus for her, first Grand Slam outside of Wimbledon and on her own ranking.

She's with Heisen and they play Risks/Tomljanovic this evening.

R64:- Alison Riske (USA) / Ajla Tomljanovic (USA) CR221 (73+148) v Vivian Heisen (GER) / Emily Webley-Smith (GBR) CR336 (178+158)

(Rankings are WTA rankings from ITF website - note that Riske and Tomljanovic are singles 23 and 64)

There's been a 30% increase in R1 prize money, too, for the doubles.

So there's EUR 14,950 for the losing pair

Which is not too shabby....
