Jodie obviously has to get through her match today, but I did notice she could have faced Pemra Ozgen, the 8th seed in the 2nd round, someone who she is 0-5 against (most of them in the UK), and has only won one set in those 5 matches, but Pemra is currently 1-6 2-5 to a qualifier.
Nice to see Katy get an important win, she obviously knows a lot about injuries and retirements. The opponent made the final last week (hence the SR), so maybe/hopefully for her, just a case of matches catching up.
Katy must be a bit rusty after her long lay-off, so all court time is a bonus. She did win the last six games of her match pretty comfortably, and it looks as if her opponent had serving problems.
Unfortunately it is the top seed next, Leonie Kung WR145 who has just beaten Ines Murta (Q) 6-3 7-6(8)
