BOBBY WILSON

i've picked this up from Wikipedia but Bobby Wilson the British player from the 1950's and 1960's  has passed away. He was 84. He had a distinguished career and reached the  singles quarter finals of the French once, Wimbledon 4 times and the US twice.  He also played in the 1960 Wimbledon  mens 'doubles final  with  the late Mike Davies also of Britain. They lost to the scratch pair of Ralston (USA) and Osuna (Mexico). He was also a Davis Cup regular from 1955 to 1968 with a 40 wins and 20 losses record.

RIP and thoughts go out to his family.

That's sad news. I saw Bobby Wilson around 1980 at Ilkley , playing in the singles semis against Mike Appleton. Wilson was early to mid 40s but played lovely tennis and only just lost. I think he played doubles there with John Paish but could be wrong.

Sad to hear. I vaguely remember him as a player when I first was interested in tennis and he also commentated Wimbledon for a number of years.
Best wishes to his family.
