Weeks 39 & 40 - French Open, Roland-Garros, Paris (clay)

Dan seems a bit more back on song and wins the 4th set 6-1.

He definitely dipped 2nd and start if 3rd set but seems to have got to grip with the conditions and kei now. Fingers crossed for the 5th.

Yes, but my theory now was that Dan was supposed to win the fifth!

Disappointing in the end. I didnt see the end so not sure whether Dan tailed off or whether Kei stepped it up..

Andy just about to start...

Big credit to David Goffin - and serious concerns about the umpire....

Goffin's ball is sliced, quite slow, takes the outside of the line, Sinner is on the ball, it's called out, Sinner hits the ball back over into Goffin's half.....

Goffin queries the call, umpire looks, overrules, calls it in, and awards the point to Goffin.

Sinner looks completely befuddled - the umpire sticks firm - and Goffin tells the umpire the guy got it back over, it has to be replayed - credit to him.

Especially as then gets broken...

Yes, rather better than I recall from Angie Kerber in a very similar situation, if surely just the right thing to do.
