I had to go out, but Alfie is the 6-3 in the third.

Rafa v Novak, if Rafa wins he equals 20 slams record of Fed. If Novak wins its 20, 19, 18.

If Rafa wins is he the equal GOAT? Or even the GOAT?

Ooo, you've gone there. Probably rather safer here than on twitter!

Good article to get the discussion going

Djoko
Nadal
Thiem
Medvedev
Tsitsipas
Zverev

Looks tight for 7th and 8th place between a large number of players

Lots of 'twittering' on Tennis Magazine from Vilotte (the DG/MD of Roland Garros) about how the tournament's ticket sales are only 3% of normal, no profit, and how its 'capacity to finance French tennis will now drop by 80-100 million euros'.

Congratulations to Rafa on winning his 13th French Open singles title by beating Djoko in straight sets (0, 2 & 5).  hmm  Lesser of two evils, I guess.  What a noisy, constantly ball-bouncing pair!

I don't know if I am in a minority in that I never get particularly bothered by ball bouncing or noise, unless the noise is absolutely extreme. Nor such as supposedly too long being taken and Rafa's OCD

I dont watch as much as I once did, really because it's Nadal vs  Djokovic yet again. But like almost all matches, when I do watch, I simply take in the tennis and such other matters don't really detract. It's what's the actual tennis like, and if that is decent I'm well in and just concerned about who's going to get the next point and beyond.

Yes, I certainly preferred Rafa winning.

Personally Rafas tiks make him unwathable for me and Novaks general attitude makes him unwatchable so I passed on the final. Not a fan of either of them tennis wise but prefer Nadal.

Nadals level in the first two sets was...maybe the best clay court tennis ever? Is that too hyperbolic? Unplayable though

Sounds like I do need to go back and watch it.

I agree, I watched the first 2 sets closely, and even the waiting/bouncing was less irritating because the tennis was so good.  Even commentators said nole score didn't reflect what a tough battle it had been. Only half his drop shots worked because Rafa just got most of them, and usually went on to win the point.

Just clocked, Thiem won the most matches in the Slams this season and has the overall best record:

Thiem Won 17 lost 2
Djoko Won 16 lost 2
Zverev Won 14 lost 3
Nadal Won 11 lost 1
Rublev Won 11 lost 3

Not sure if that makes Thiem the best in the world this year, it is all about slams after all, or is it??!
Or is it Nadal, he had the top percentage record, clearly!
Or was it Djoko, after all his fans would argue that his 16 was curtailed by an unjust DQ and he would have gone on to great things in the US Open!
