I read that anyone deported after jail, with a sentence of the length he had, has a 10 year period now before he can apply to enter the country again. Apparently he has already flown out.

Unlucky for Boris, in the old days Australia couldn't get enough convicted criminals!

Och Boris, jump in a wee boat bound for the UK and you can have a front seat at the 2023 Rwanda Open.

He 'claimed' to be the attaché to the European Union on sporting, cultural and humanitarian affairs for the Central African Republic. Despite never having been there.

The CAR's foreign office claimed this was not true (Boris lying? really?)

Or did Germany get him the passport and status to try and protect him ?

Either way, I've written to Eurosport and informed them of my opnion (worth diddly squat but what the heck) about employing a convicted cheat and thief

Apparently Boris is not subject to any criminal restrictions in Germany. The man is Tefal coated hmm and personally I dont have a huge issue with him working for Eurosport, as long as his earnings go directly to the accounts responsible for handling his debts

I like Boris. I have no objections to him him being employed commentating at all. Yes, I don't agree with what he did but he has served his sentence and there are public figures, some of whom are running our country, who have and are doing far worse I'm sure.

He talked about the racism his now ex wife experienced and I believe they had to move because of it. This was long before the trial that I heard him first mention it. That put me on quite e sympathetic attitude toward him, and that remains.

I agree Julia and EP - no problem people being employed after serving their sentence and Ive always quite liked him also. I feel quite sad for the man really although I do think he should be made to pay his debts out of his earnings whilst keeping enough to live off.

It's really interesting how our views differ about him, as I couldn't disagree more with Julia - sorry!! Since he stopped playing I have never liked Boris as he seems a bit of a creepy character. What's more I don't understand why he's employed as a pundit as in my opinion he just states the ble**in' obvious and doesn't offer any interesting insights in the way that Tim and Mac do. I'd love to think that any earnings would be redirected to repay his debts, but since he is not subject to criminal restrictions in Germany this seems unlikely. I shall as always boycott or mute any matches where he's on commentary. Well done CD for taking the trouble to send objections to Eurosport.

I've no problem with him being employed in general.

I just have a big problem with him being employed in a high-profile job where I have to listen to him

He may not be as bad as some of our politicians, it's true, but I'm afraid that bar is so low it's hardly worth mentioning.

He stole, he lied, causing innocent tradesmen to go bankrupt, and he refused to admit it. And this was over a long period, and over a serious amount of money. And from someone who was in a very fortunate position, with lots of choices.

(And this isn't even anything to do with the most sordid story about his 'sexual encounter', as it's called, that led to the birth of another child).

I honestly do not see how Eurosport can possibly give him a platform (as, on top of everything else, he's aslo a very mediocre commentator, as SuperT says).

Yes, forget the whataboutery and look at Becker, what he has done and his fitness to be a broadcaster

I didn't know about the detrimental effect on  'innocent tradesmen' I must say.  I confess my knowledge of his alleged crimes  was scant.   I do  hope he  will show remorse for harm to  individuals and   makes some effort to redress that situation.
