She needed more practice time on court.wink

She sure does. Not sure that the last set counts though !

Could be Beatriz next, but her match against the #8 seed has yet to start.

And it will be Beatriz in the quarter finals, as she came through 2 & 4.

Katy on court. *0-4. There is a stream, but I can't watch as we have a power cut.

Katy lose 0 & 2. And Lily lost 2 & 0.

Could be Beatriz's title this week.

Tough score for Katy, but at least she is back with a few matches under her belt this week. Always a shame facing someone like Haddad Maia fairly early in these lower level events, as more often than not, you're going to be leaving with only 1, 2, 4 points depending on when you meet her.

Hopefully she can get a few more events in before the end of the year.

Haddad Maria is on the entry list for Porto next week, but listed at only A38 and WR1342. Could well appear in the main draw as WC or SE though, and her ranking is up to 648 (21/09/20).
Katy and Lily are in qualifying, but only at Q8 and Q12 in a very strong field for a W25.

She's played a lot of tennis recently has BHM. Still a week left in the month, but tomorrow will be her 19th singles match of September, although a fair few of those were Katy type wins, and a few doubles bagels as well. I suppose she did (self inflicted) miss a lot of tennis, so she'll feel she has a lot of catching up to do, although saying that, with just 4, 6, or 10 points on the line for playing 4 or 5 matches in these W15 events, it will take a while for her to get anywhere near where she has been, but not too many options available at the moment.

 I notice it's a 48 draw for qualifying.

This is the problem with 1 year+ drug bans, it punishes the lower level players when the player returns to tournaments.  I think it needs looking at, maybe a situation where they can go back to their original ranking but can't take the prize money for a set amount of time. I'm not sure what the answer is to be honest.

Yes, 48 qualifying draw. Of course Haddad Maria isn't eligible for a SE as she is only on the alternates list. Not certain how many wild cards she has used so far either - I think it is two at W25 and one at W15, out of the three main draw wilds cards available for each category, so she has one available. But 50 points to the winner, so she may go for it.
