This will be only the second Grand Slam of the year, and therefore has attracted a few players who might have otherwise given it a miss. Four girls could in theory enter with their WTA ranking (top 400), and two of these have done so (Daria Lopatetska and Emma Raducany - Coco Gauff and Clara Tauson being the duo who have opted not to return to junior competition). Pablo Llamas Ruiz (ATP651) is in via the same route. There is no qualifying event so Marni Banks needs a couple of withdrawals to take part.
Good to see Arthur and Felix and Emma who all played well in domestic senior events over lockdown. I dont know much about Toby , if he is in Matilda only from this weeks work.
13 year-old Brenda Fruhvirtova, CZE, (who David has often heralded) has got a wildcard for Roland Garros.
Nice of the FFT to offer her a wildcard, as unlike Wimbledon they don't often give one to juniors from other countries. Colette pointed out in her ZooTennis blog that during the summer Brenda got a win against a WTA top 100 player in an exhibition match to add to her array of achievements. Her sister Linda, who some of us watched against Destinee Martins at Wimbledon 2019, is in the draw on ranking

Unfortunately Emma has now withdrawn
From the sublime to the ridiculous, after beating her WTA top 100 player, Brenda decided to play a little clay warm-up event last week, a Tennis Europe U16 event in Slovenia.
She won the title, playing three matches, and losing the grand sum of two games.
I see that Clara Tauson has qualified for the biggie MD. May that be Emma next year.
We can dream can't we? In the meanwhile Tauson has won the 1st set against Brady.Tauson won 9-7 in the final set. Didn't watch the match which was on Eurosport but Tauson had a strapping on her thigh

I see the 2nd seed in the girls singles is Alexandra Eala from the Philippines. To be honest that is the 1st female player from the Philippines I have ever heard of proving what a global sport tennis is. There have been male players in the past from that country and Felix. Ampon played at Wimbledon in the 1940's and 1950's.
