Whatever his ranking , Marco Cecchinato has a French semi 2 years ago and 3 ATP Tour titles, all on clay, to his name, plus he was at home. Always going to be tough.
I wasnt surprised by Dan either, but the doubles guys disappointed me mostly
Anyone able to tell me what happened in the Paire match. During Kyles rain break, Amazon showed a clip but I couldnt see or hear what was going on as I was involved with something else.
I guess with Paire it could be anything.....
As I write this Kyle is in the second set tie break at 1-2*

His match yesterday against Sinner?
Benoit claims he was using it as a training match, having been locked up for 10 days, his goal was to play an hour, he was playing really badly but that's fine for a training match, he was a bit antsy, because he's Benoit, and he didn't like the umpire, and so he got to 1h 4mins, which was over his 1 hour goal, and match point down, he served underarm and didn;t really play the point because he was done, mission accomplished, good first little training, time to get out of there, all good.
Well, that's the story I read ....
Oh ok thanks - hadnt realised it was yesterday. Just saw it on the screen (volume was down) as I was doing some other stuff. Sounds like typical Paire!!
Yes, CD posted about "the pretty amazing new cohort of Italian players" earlier in the thread after AV had mentioned the further progress of Cam's young conqueror, Zeppieri.
Musetti who beat Stan has now followed up with a win over newly returned from injury and surgery Nishikori.
Up 70 places to 179 in live rankings, a great week for him with qualies wins as well.
Good to see Dominik Koepfer win also, over Monfils, he is now at a new career high of 80 live rankings. I enjoyed seeing him win Ilkley last year , a neat but erratic player, but seemed a decent guy, and good to see him start to translate that. I reckon he is top 50 material and another win here would help him reach mid 60s.

Another win for Koepfer and up to 66 in live rankings. Sadly Djoko next!
