Shame. Feared the worst when the opponent recovered the break in the decider, despite the later MPs.
She might have found it tough again in the next round, but those extra 5 points would have been handy, especially as there'll probably be limited W25+ (hard court) opportunities for her for the rest of the year.
It'll be interesting to see what her future plans are. Anyone know?
Edited to specify hard court.

Tough match for Maia today, but she's one of 3 QFs on Court 2 today, so should be on that FB link. She's 3rd on, and the first match is curently in a first set TB.
Looks a decent enough effort (without seeing any of the stream) as she was a big 6-1 pre match outsider, and she obviously got that great, welcome win yesterday.
She didn't match her seeding last week, but I think back to back QFs and 20 points combined is a relatively good return from her Portugal trip as she did win a few matches where the odds were close, and at least 2 as the betting underdog.
I wonder if she tries the clay later in the year, or sticks to lower tier hard, or any future domestic (exho) events that might be added instead?

Maia isn't on any acceptance lists for ITF for w/c 14/09 and 21/09. But she is on the list for Porto on 28/09 - only as an alt at the moment, although the withdrawal deadline is this coming Tuesday.
