You can play on clay in pretty awful weather - not outright downpours, but quite a lot that's pretty close.
Far easier to rely on clay in Paris in October than grass in London in June, I reckon.

Yeah but I mean in terms of general disruption and a pleasant experience.
We can beg to differ I think.
Either way more pleasant than Yorkshire in September, cold and dreary here today.
Fran's conqueror Kucova did go on to take the title here, and she won her last 8 sets without the opponent going past 4 games in any of them, so she obviously hit a bit of form.
