Weeks 35/36 - US Open, Flushing Meadows, New York City (hard)

Really pleased to see Rogers back after such a bad time with injuries.

Brady kvery good if not injured now she has a decent chance of making the final.

Tsvetana Pitonkova, as previously said, in her first tour tournament since Wimbledon 2017, takes the first set vs Serena by 6-4. Serena totalled 5 points on return.

Well that was a bit of a destruction, and not what I was expecting. Azarenka 6-1 6-0 over Mertens in about 70 minutes.

Semi finals set:

12am
Osaka vs Brady
Followed by
Serena vs Azarenka

I think I'd like a 2018 (USO final) rematch, but that 2nd semi final is very intriguing.

SF bet365 odds :

Brady 11/5 vs Osaka 4/11
Williams 11/10 vs Azarenka 8/11

Osaka is 5/4 favourite to take the title.

Norhing jumps out at me as value there. I can understand Azarenka being favourite against Williams.

Amazing quality in the semis. Brilliant tennis from all 4. Should be a good final.

Yep, one of the best pair of slam semi finals that I can remember for quite some time. I actually stayed up until 4.45, regretting it now a bit, ha. I was always going to watch the first match, but since Serena won the first set in around 30 mins, I decided to watch a bit more, and couldn't leave it at 1-1.

So the 'Cincy' final that we never got, Vika on an 11 match winning streak, Naomi on 10, multiple grand slam champs at different stages of their career. I was hoping for Osaka vs Serena, but this isn't a bad alternative.

So the bookies got the right winners though the Vika / Serena start suggested otherwise and Brady was very impressive.

The poor balls took some real hammering!

I expect Naomi to take the title but really great to see such form from Vika.

Probably worth a mention

FINAL

(4) Naomi Osaka beat Victoria Azarenka 1-6 6-3 6-3

Great two weeks for both.

I didn't see it though.
