Week 33/34 - WTA Premier 5 Western & Southern Open ($1,950,079) - New York, USA (Outdoor Hard)

So far this is about as good a match as you'll see from Johanna Konta. Serving big, accurate deep groundstrokes, unbothered by Flipkins attempts to mix it up.

A set and a double break up.

Ah thanks - I'm watching scores and wondering if this is a great performance from Jo or a really bad day at the office for Flipper.

Uhhhh Konta playing rather well? Im pleasantly surprised. I suppose the super quick courts suit her?

Another lengthy US Open run now beckons next week biggrin

She'll face another qualifier in the next round, either Siegemund or Zvonareva, who should be starting fairly soon (unless Anisimova can turn her match around), but some decent points on the board already, considering she has now taken advantage and backed up that first round bye.

I saw this and wasn't sure if you meant jo playing well didn't last long or the match didn't last long. Relieved to see it was the latter, hope jo can build on this but if not atleast she has 1 good win under her belt going into the US Open

Well done , Jo, excellent result. Grandstand tomorrow versus Zvonareva, Andy also scheduled on it if he gets through Zverev.
