It's Heather vs Jo in R1...

Well that's one way of ensuring a British winner in round 1. The top 8 seed who Jo/Heather could potentially meet in the last 16 is Sabalenka who is the 5th seed. (Hope that is correct)

You have to favour Jo based on the courts and form this past week...

Somehow I wouldn't be surprised if Heather finally broke her New York duck with a win over Jo!

Frustrating draw, but expect Jo to win.

This is going to be the most awkward  match  for British commentators. Not sure the last time the British number 1 and 2 ladies met in a Grand Slam. The last time 2 British ladies met in a Grand Slam singles match was Naomi Broady v. Laura Robson  in 2016 US Open.. Prior to that it was Anne Keothavong v. Naomi 1st round Wimbledon in 2011. Before that in the 1980's I think  nos 1 and 2 Jo Durie and Anne Hobbs played each other at least  once.Should Heather win , that would mean she would join Jo in winning at least one   match at all the Grand Slams.
