LTA support

I wonder whether anyone has definitive information about which players receive regular LTA support? My view is that it is likely to be the following eight: Johanna Konta, Heather Watson, Harriet Dart, Naiktha Bains, Katie Swan, Jodie Burrage, Emma Raducanu andKatie Boulter. I guess that the next in line would be Fran Jones and Maia Lumsden. What does everyone think please?

Thanks very much Cya for an interesting link.

One surprise omission is Naiktha Bains as I had assumed that there was a financial motive behind her return to Britishness.

The two surprise inclusions are Fran as she is apparently based in Spain and Gabi who has had no good results for over eighteen months.

Obviously just fierce patriotism for her country of birth biggrin

Na, the Aussie landscape around that level is currently a fair bit stronger than ours, so more chance of WTA WCs here, although not ideal for her with the grass being cancelled this year (not ideal for anyone, but she probably switched mainly for that incentive). Plus, there'd be more chance she'd get into a GB Fed Cup squad, even if just making up the numbers, like we saw in Slovakia earlier this year.

I was speaking to someone well up in LTA women's tennis at Sunderland last year and she said they did no chasing / scouting etc. and they basically got an email out of the blue from her team signalling her intentions to switch.

Speaking of Naiktha, I see she has her first match tomorrow since July 2nd, still just an exho though, against Da Silva Fick. There's a stream at 8am if anyone is interested, although I can't see that being too high, myself included - there's more than enough live tennis on at the moment to keep me occupied.

It's a shame she wasn't in the UK during this period though, as she would have been an asset at these SGH events, and would have presumably been picked for the BotB, and could have played the odd BT event or the Progress Tour and got her name out more to British fans, because there'll be a fair few who probably won't even realise she represents GB now as her 2019 grass season was pretty brief.

Hi guys Im a newbie on the forum but I have followed for years as I have always been interested in everybodys views and opinions regarding British tennis. A very disappointing week for British tennis I know but could somebody please tell me if the players on the above pro scholarship programme mlink are the only British funded tennis players or are their others with other support. Any other information on any other players that are supported would be great. I have only really followed the Pros but I would like to watch more of the juniors to see where we are going wrong. Seems to me that most of our juniors go to the states to college or uni and come back decent players but never decent enough to reach the top.

Welcome Deucebag! I have just bumped a thread in the general tennis about players belonging to overseas clubs. You may also find some more relevant threads there, I haven't got that sort of detailed knowledge that others will have. Am not really sure why this thread is here, seems nobody reading it currently, no women in live competition at this end of the week, sadly.
