Boy have I missed these sort of threads. It'll also give me the opportunity to patter on about the singles draw as well, instead of that huge general tennis one , although I'll wait until EWS' tournament is over (whenever that may be) to potentially not annoy those solely checking in for an Em update.
Not sure how long this trip will last (could perhaps have done with the match being scheduled after AVU has played her singles against the top seed), but she has also made the cut for Lexington, with Whoriskey
Just to let you know, the polls are up for GB Player of the Month over in the general discussion section, if any followers of womens tennis would like to vote!
Rather comical in Palermo. There is a ceremony taking place on the adjacent Centre Court, and the band started playing the Italian National Anthem right in the middle of a game. ANd earlier there was raucous cheering as Sara Errani won her match.
Needless to say the serve was broken, allowing Em and Vivian to recover from a double-break down to *3-3
Just looking at some real WTA rankings and ranking points, as indicated Emily's frozen WTA ranking was WR 150.
She has 532 points with an 11th counter of 28 points, so currently if she can reach a WTA international R2/QF she would get 60 points for a net 32 points increase. Not to be this week though.
Plus I reminded myself that no-one can drop any points for the rest of the year. So I have replaced a nonsense paragraph that I had written

Not a million miles away. Did really well to get into that first set from a double break down, but missed the deuce point at 4-3* and then played 4 bad points at *4-4 30-0.
Similar story in the second, recovered from an early break, looked in contention, played a poor game at *4-4. Missed a break point in the final game.
Hopefully she can get across to Lexington ok, and all being well that event goes ahead. Tara and Emma are scheduled to join her.
Some of the players at Palermo were struggling on their return. In particular Sakkari and Vondrousova who beat Jo on clay last year were beaten.Peterson who beat Jo on hard courts about 12 months ago and had Hogstedt as a coach at some stage. also lost.Other losers were Mertens, Kasatkina and Mladenovic who did the coffee zoom session with Jo fairly recently.
1) Martic vs Q) Sasnovich
4) Kontaveit vs WC) Cocciaretto
Ferro vs WC) Errani
7) Yastermska vs Giorgi
Quite an interesting line up. Plenty of home interest, and they've made good use of their WCs, and still 3 seeds remain. Play finished after 2am local on Monday, and after 1am tonight.
