Week 31- UK Pro Series - St George's Hill, Weybridge - (Hard) (Series Week 5)

I have 30 names on my spreadsheet for the women - might be missing one or two alts though, as I just have those with points listed. I haven't collected all the scores though - I have around half of them only, and it is a big job to collect all the missing ones from so many pages of posts, or alternatively day by day from the website where they are all available

And Emily Ap has just beaten Summer 2 and 2.

It definitely does feel the most damp squib type week thus far IMO. There's maybe not as many totally out of their depth as in other weeks, but the level is generally a lot lower (and that's probably why they're not as much out of their depth). Great for the likes of Naomi, Eliz and Emily Ap to get an extra $3-5k in their back pockets, given the field, but the matches just don't feel too interesting.

Abi vs Emily turned out to be close and competitive, but was basically a match to avoid 6th place. There were only really 2 interesting matches today in terms of realistic top 2 chances, Holly vs Erin later on, and then Eliz vs Nadia earlier, and I was kind of watching that match mainly hoping that they weren't on court too long (with next week in mind). The lack of realistic outside contender hasn't helped either. Its certainly no desperate scramble to secure your place type stuff.

So 30 plus, which makes sense - I asked the question realising it would be a big task if youd hadnt already done a spreadsheet!

I assume men would be same, which means maybe 60-70 men and women have received income through this event, many of them a decent level and more than theyd normally earn.

Yes, although only appearance money for those that come 12th - but it is still $1000 for the two that have played just one event.
(I have a couple of errors in my spreadsheet amongst the lower players though, so need to spend some time checking again)

Presumably Naomi and Billy Harris will have made the most money over the first 4 weeks overall?

It's fantastic money for them, relatively. Going back to Telstars breakdown at the start of this thread - Winner - $5,000, Runner Up - $3,500, 3rd $3,000, 4th - $2,500 in addition to the $1k for showing up. Only really Jodie who has competed here is currently capable of challenging/winning at W25k level (excluding those who may have been at that level in the past, or could in the future), where you get $3,900 for winning the event, so you get more for finishing 3rd here, than winning a W25, which can sometimes contain top 100/120 players.

Emily Ap and Eliz have been 2 of the main point scorers here, and Emily went on a massive run of not winning a match at W25 level very recently, and Eliz has had fairly modest results at W15 level, so it really is brilliant money for them relatively, and ironically, the vast majority of them will have seen their bank balances increase significantly because of Covid, as this type of opportunity almost certainly wouldn't have happened without it.

Edit - that's winning a W25 title, not an individual match.

Doing a quick tally, I make it (and may be wrong!) that players have won as follows:(incl appearance fees)

Arbuthnott $6,250
Rawson $8,250
Christie $9,750
Maloney $10,250
Grey $10,500
Appleton $11,500
Kartal $6000
Silva $6,000
Burrage $6000
Broady $13,500

I may be slightly off there but all of those havent done too badly over a month of work. Many have also played Battle of Brits and Progress Tour so would have done a lot better than just the figures above

Just turned it from Palermo on to the Holly-Erin match (big opportunity for both of these in the race to 2nd), and there's already a big exchange with the umpire in the very first game, ha. No idea what it's about.

Yes, I agree with you telstar. I used your list, but somehow where you have a gap in your listing excel had a space in it, and so counted it as an entry !

Holly with a hard fought 6-3 6-4 win over Erin. It'll probably come down to Holly vs Victoria for 2nd now, but Erin could still be in contention if other results go her way

Victoria will play one of those 2 group rivals tomorrow.
