I saw earlier that it is 3 WCs, so Holly vs Eliz isn't quite as interesting now. It'll basically just be 1st Alt on the line for Holly, and she will also have to win the match to pass Emily Arb (due to overall matches won, Emily 10-4, Holly 9-4), although there's probably a fairly decent chance the first Alt will get to play some part of the Classic week (unfortunately), so still very much worth her winning, but just not as significant as if a full spot was on the line.

All 3 Naomi-Emily Ap SGH meetings have been pretty tight, 2 MTBs and a 7-6 7-6, with Naomi winning them all, so hopefully tomorrow will be a decent match, but I'd personally like to see Emily come out on top this time, and have 5 different groups winners heading into the Classic.

Cheers Telstar. It was mentioned on Twitter earlier by the organisers that it is 3 WCs, so those top 9 look set in stone, plus Emily Arb is currently above Holly because she has won 1 extra match in the series (also an official tie breaker), so she would be the first Alt, unless Holly beats Eliz tomorrow, in which case she would move ahead on 16 points. Emily could maybe be a half realistic WC selection. It looks like Harriet officially has one based on this:

www.ukproseries.com/news
with Harriet Dart, Jodie Burridge and Eden Silva competing in the womens draw

and if they continue to go external with their picks then Katie B or Emma Rad would add further interest and a higher level, and Maia and Lissy would likely be more competitive if they kept it internal, but Emily is also ranked, has made a final here, is (currently) next in line, and has beaten Freya twice here, as well as Nadia and Sonay, who will all appear next week, so she would hold her own with a lot of the field.

They have added a bit more info about the players on the Classic week page - www.ukproseries.com/livestreamsclassicweek, but nothing really significant there, other than Anton Mat officially has a WC in the mens.

Thanks Telstar. Your list tallies with my spreadsheet, apart from Maia, where I have missed a point somewhere I think as I have her on 9.

I must say, it is great to see the interest in the forum on domestic events this last month - very few people have posted in the past on anything that wasn't ITF level or above. This series is somewhere in between - some matches are W25 standard, some are British Tour first round, and a good mix in between. Good opportunities for match practice, and for getting their names known, as well as good money on offer.

It should be 9 for Maia, and I think they did have Maia on 9 on the official table earlier in the series before others passed her tally in the following weeks and she subsequently fell out of the top 10. Maia obviously didn't show up for her 3rd and 4th P/O with Beth, and speaking of which, it would probably be better for the tournament (next week) if Eliz, and particularly Nadia, did the same, to get at least 1 day off before the Classic, but I suspect we will see them both, and a 28th SGH match in 28 days for Nadia.

If Eliz did concede her match, then it would obviously be fairly key who they brought in as an alt, if a Kimberly like earlier in the week, or an equivalent like Amelia S, since Kimberly is already here, then Holly would effectively just need show up to gain that extra point she needed to pass Emily, but if they brought in someone competitive, namely Emily - then that would spice thing up. But that's all hypothetical as Eliz will likely show up.

I've obviously been a profilic poster on these SGH threads, and I have really enjoyed the tournament. It obviously helped there wasn't too much alternative live sport on in the early weeks which allowed me to really invest in the concept. There's some players who have been a bit of a waste of time, to put it the best I can, but it has allowed me to see players regularly like Eliz and Nadia, who have both been really good value, and haven't really been on many ITF streams previously - I'm not sure if I have watched either on a stream before this domestic period, maybe Eliz in a W15, but I can't specifically remember it, but I will be keeping more of an eye on her progress going forward. There's been a good mix, a lot of more familiar W25 players as you say, a lot of players who have given good accounts of themselves, and also a lot of younger players like Sonay, Millie, Amelia R, and Holly who have all done reasonably well to varying degrees, and gained valuable experience, plus really good money as you also say.

It'll feel quite strange when it ends next Sunday as 6 full weeks without a days break is a long time, and you get used to it, but then, it'll only be about 5 days until the BT starts up again.

Saw your twitter exchange with the organisers, glad they eventually clarified things! It would be useful if theyd put an updated set of tables up today to show whod actually got the 9 places and who could still make it today, I'm guessing the mens could still be quite close. Being honest,  the mens interests me significantly more, the womens seems more one sided and the quality has always left me cold, I'm afraid, although that is a womens tennis thing generally. But no one else bar SC with her marvellous score and results updates posts in the mens thread so I have to pop here to get meaningful updates and insights!

All the "fanatics" seem to populate the womens threads! Which is interesting as that seems to generally be a thing eg womens tennis forum has a lot more analysis generally and depth than mens tennis forum , its brother site.

That must have been another women's tennis and Newcastle fan that wanted a bit of clarity. Strange. wink

At least they do generally get back to you if you ask the question, but not ideal that you have to chase things up. They have started to update their site a little bit more with news, but aye, they could still do so much more and really set the qualifying scene as you say.

They did say that they will keep showing it on YouTube next week despite the additional EuroSport Player coverage.

See I've been more interested in following the women more than the men and I think it's because there is more discussion rather than just score updates (on the men's side).

Did you see the match TA? I missed it, but played it back to the final game and she was barely moving for some of the later points, so not sure if she pulled something in the opening games, or was hampered from the get go.

No, I missed the whole thing. Comment on youtube that she couldn't run, but that's all I know.
Naomi v Emily just started, so going to watch some of that now
