Yes.

Mind you, Heather Watson was looking a little more round-faced on TV, and also said (in her own words) that she'd been eating rather too much..... lockdown has not been easy for many in that regard...

Hard to know how to say this politely but...Marcus is looking like twice the chap he was before ....well before. Still got the racket skills but the extra weight isnt going to help him...

 Ah, Marcus, Marcus

Perhaps Marcus is applying the Bryson De Chambeau approach to tennis?

Well he won the 1st set regardless. If he is going to commit to doubles and train then the weight will soon go.

Well played Marcus. He beats Toby 3&3 and probably lost another couple of pounds in the process. wink

And won a few pounds cash in the process as well. His racket skills looked fine, and maybe it will work for doubles but once he plays a better opponent at singles, I dont fancy his chances!

Marcus always played very well, with his weight or despite his weight.
And didn't seem to have knee or back problems, or anything, in particular.
And he didn't play especially better after when he lost weight either.
He very nearly won yesterday, in quite a long tight match. And still seemed fine today.
Go, Marcus :)

I know we've been here quite a few times.

Marcus's stamina has always seemed quite good but to me he has got to have been able to be better over the long term if he had kept that weight down, been much better conditioned, and committed.

I still recall watching Marcus first hand play 2 matches in a day, including relatively schooling Liam Broady, to win an Edinburgh 10K title quite a few years ago.

It was that period when he was back on the up, with his private funding arrangement and help, having been in the relative doldrums for a while after his junior promise.

He has just never near achieved what he was capable of and that to me is a real pity. Will isn't!

I do like watching him, and still voted for him a few times in the recent polls, but he leaves me frustrated.

thats an average of 7 mins per game. 4 mins per game is a well established pro level average, over a match 5-6 mins average are long old games, 7 mins average is incredible!

They have said that they'll publish tables after today's play finishes.
