I think the BBC show Pointless should have a round on British players in the singles at Wimbledon in the last 10 years ( male and female) and see who got a higher score of Jo or Heather. Unfortunately I couldn't say just female because I'm not sure we've had enough players anybody would have heard of.
Dates back to 2013 so not much relevance to recognition now, particularly given Jo is clearly in a much different place. I just recalled that tennus had come up before in Pointless and did a search ( which actually worked ).
The final round had "British women ranked in the top 500" and two other tennis catdgories. 7 out of the 11 women were pointless answers. Laura 'won' with just 19/100.

It was 2013 but I suspect it would end up with a similar number of pointless names now as well...
Yes I did get round to looking at the link from 2013.That was the time Laura was at her peak and had the successful run at the 2012 US Open. 19 /100 wasn't really a very good score. Jo was not on the radar in those days. It would be interesting to see the scores now.
How does pointless work? Do they give them a list and ask have you heard of this person? Or ask the 100 folks to name names?
So to round up, Katie B beat Alice 6-1 6-4 in the final Premier singles match. 2nd set was on serve until the 9th game.
I'm not sure on the OOP tomorrow, or what'll happen with Katie S, but we could end up with a nothing group match between Boulter and Burrage (unless that's tomorrow), which could be a rehearsal for the final.
Order of play for tomorrow is here , there doesn't appear to be a replacement for Katie S
The OOP suggests theyve had to mess about with division 1 too, with further pull-outs. Lillian Mould and Mae McCutcheon are playing "adhoc" singles...?
This is so bizarre, is it it overtraining and not being ready to compete? Is it coming in to compete too cold for successive matches? They are dropping like flies.

I'm leaning towards physically not being ready to compete , coming in cold from lock-down

Update: According to Progress Tour twitter page , Katie's group will be reduced to 3 players , with two moving to the semifinals
Thanks cya, and I see they have kept Jodie and Katie B apart which isn't great - both will be very big favourites to win their matches tomorrow, and more than likely already secure their places in the semi final, and they'll basically be playing that final group match to avoid Maia/Freya/Lissey, which isn't a huge incentive anyway. Had they have had Katie play Jodie tomorrow then at least it would have gone to the final day, with one of those losing, one of Alice and Emily Arb winning, so the group would have at least been guaranteed to be live on the final day - they couldn't event get that right, ha.
I think I'm actually more interest in the STG event this week, which I never thought would be the case.
- They may as well just get rid of that Lissey-Katie S result since they aren't replacing Katie, and Lissey didn't even win a full set. Have Freya on 1-0, Lissey 0-0, Maia 0-1. Lissey vs Maia tomorrow, and Lissey vs Freya on Thursday.

I see that the groups listed no longer tally with the order of play. I expect some of these have already been commented on.
Katie Swan is noted as having retired (as we know)
Mae McCutcheon is in for Danielle Daley Lilian Mould in for Esther Adeshina
The issue is this was supposed to be a shop window, the BBC are showing it on the red button and I player. The whole process is a joke. A 16 player event in two groups didnt appear to take into account the likely need for alts. All round robin events need them and the 2nd tier should have been alts for top tier players. Not having that in place inevitably meant any replacements would be from 17th in line down and too weak. But once players dropped out in droves, 16 player in total becomes folly. Adding to that the ludicrous scheduling clash with sgh...we haven't really got enough decent players available to give this event any credibility and that is all down to a) poor organisation and planning and b) poor conditioning of the players.
These are supposed to be our best pros, what where they doing in lockdown? I dont see this happening in the football, so why should our tennis players not hold themselves to the same standard of professionalism.
Regarding Pointless, I must admit that's by far my favourite game show, and I watch it most days, and have my weekly Zoom session against my brother and his wife, even though it's just repeats at the minute. I've constantly watched it since about 2017, and while you get plenty of general tennis rounds, I've never personally seen a specifically British one I don't think. 7 years ago - it's past time for a new one (once they get back to recording...)

I don't imagine the Mould and McCutcheon matches are 'ad hoc'. They will straight forward replacements who could still qualify-although I think that very unlikely. No replacement for Swan is not surprising though it will not please the streaming companies who will have paid for a specific number of matches. Interesting that Adeshina has withdrawn from singles but is still in doubles order of play.

....and c) the stupidity of the governing body for sanctioning so many extended events in the same period of time. As you probably know that is where I think the blame really lies!

They started showing a new series of Pointless last week. They certainly have more tennis rounds than some sports such as golf or athletics. I think they've had a more recent British tennis round since 2013 but can't remember the question. I know if you watch the programme where international tennis players are answers, the most popular answers are Federer and Venus Williams. Venus seems to be more popular than Serena. Obviously contestants are seeking the most obscure answers.

Thanks Rosamund, I'm actually currently watching an episdoe now. I record it on series link and am only up to June 19th's episode, so still a good few episodes to catch up on. Good news that it's a new series. The other day I was watching one with a Q of 'men who had won at least 25 singles matches at Wimbledon', I said Andy Roddick which scored 3, a few pointless answers including Tsonga.

Didn't somebody say Yannick Noah and Fred Perry who last playecd in 1936.

Yep, that was the episode. Should have stressed it was in the Open Era.
