Hi everybody :D

Hi, I'm Johnny...

I've been reading this forum for some years, but in the ancient days i was a member on tennis.com then til 2014 on t4u.... Unfortunately t4u went down cause Scott, the owner is a busy family man, long story short, out of nostalgia, and because our Hong Kong member, Mimi, doesn't trust facebook, we made a forum, tennisdiscourse.com, we put the most effort in the men's board: https://tennisdiscourse.com/community/ which has media manager where you can make your own albums, live chat, credits system for games...

I know that promoting other sites on forums is usually frowned upon, i'm not sure about the rules here cause the code of conduct link takes me to a 404 page, anyway, i also know that people usually stick with their old board until it goes belly up... However, if you guys are interested in building a modern platform everybody's welcome, including admins here...

About long term plans, for now we're fine-tuning the site, the biggest problem is that the biggest tennis fans are busy family people with little time to post, for now most of our members are gamers, programmers, etc who are not really interested in tennis (they are our friends that's why they joined).... So we're looking for tennis fans  :D We're also looking for an american admin. We already have 2 british admins but they're young people busy with young people stuff...

About the ownership: a young Italian mom owns the forum but we agreed, because of our past bad experience of getting dropped because the owner stopped paying the server bills, that in case we don't wanna do it anymore we give the hosting, licences, file system and databases to whoever wants to continue running it for free.

So just join us anytime, make your topics and have fun, we're open to suggestions, and don't let the current content scare you, lots of goofy posts by goofy people.... the junkposts/junk content can be cleaned up later, for now we don't even have rules but we're for free speech, we don't like google and pc police so for now anything that's not illegal gets green light, an example: inciting violence vs migrants would be deleted but the member wouldn't be banned, but saying Trump's son in law is a zionist is ok, it's true and it doesn't promote anything against anybody....

Thanks for reading and have a nice day <3

Hi Johnny,

Interesting stuff includng a reminder to me that we actually have a code of conduct ( I think the sticky thread at the top of the introductions section says all that was meant when it was written in 2009, even though yes the forum link gives a '404' ). It's generally about inappropriate content and behavior, which is only very rarely an issue here, us admins having a pretty easy life I'd say.

No mention is made in the COD about promoting other tennis sites, which yes might in some instances be frowned on by some. And anyway I was already happy that your site was different enough from ours that I have no issue in this case.

As you have no doubt seen, ours is very much concentrated on tennis and particularly British tennis players and the events they participate in, though with 'general tennis', 'other sporting events' and 'chat' sections. Whereas yours, from what you have said and from my brief look, is much more international and with more non tennis stuff. So the short of it is that it's a quite different resource which I see no reason not to just leave anyone to have a look at as they wish.

We are very short of Amrrican members ( the absolutely vast majority are British ) so you'll be very lucky to find one to help admin. More generally, I personally haven't got the time myself and I leave it to other admins and members to make any contact.

All the best.
