8 of the greatest players of all time are listed below. Of these 8, which player do you believe was the greatest? Vote for them.

Top 3 go through to the semis round.

If there are ties for qualifying spots, a tie play off will be played Monday evening.

Poll closes at 6

This is a difficult choice because as well as the above 3 Shirley Fry also managed a career singles Grand Slam.

I need to add , Jelena Jankovic never won a slam but was rated number one at 2008 year end and hence got into the poll.

Steffi a clear choice for me here.

I went for Maureen Connolly as she could have won heaps of slams had her career not been curtailed by a riding accident. Graf with her 24 slams and Evert with 18 (and btw her 125 match winning streak on clay) are the other worthy contenders in this group and I hope they both also get through.

Only 2 players scored so far here. If it stays that way, only those 2 will progress.

Mo would have been my vote, but based on this comment I voted Chrissy as it seemed she hadn't any votes and with her record should progress too!

She has in fact 3 votes now, Mo 4 and Steffi 9 so all should progress...

Shirley Fry won each of the 4 slams in the fifties, doing the much vaunted career slam. She won 17 slams across the singles and doubles and mixed spectrum. She was also world number one in the fifties.

Coincidentally, I have been sorting through my parents' photos recently; they were big tennis fans.

I came across one of Shirley Fry, taken at Wimbledon in 1949, on Court 3. Hopefully attached!

And a late vote here, just in time, the 3 qualifiers are:

Steffi Graf
Maureen Connolly
Chris Evert

Out go Muguruza, Azarenka, Jankovic, Sanchez Vicario and Fry

I think the 3 qualifiers are as I would expect from this group
